At the May 2004 graduation ceremony, Dr. Deborah Wilson, a Professor of English, was awarded the Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award. Dr. Wilson teaches a range of courses at Tech, including Southern Literature, Literary Theory, and Film Studies. She also serves as the Director of the Masters of Liberal Arts program at Tech.

Previous departmental winners were Professor Paul Lake and Professor Trey Philpotts for research, Professor Rexann Oller for service and Professor Earl Schrock for teaching.
