Student Achievements
Nick Morris, senior creative writing/journalism major and the 2004-2005 Nebo Editor, has had his poem "Reebok Cowboys" accepted for publication in Sigma Tau Delta Review. As editor Nick will supervise a staff of 20 and the publication of two issues of Tech's nationally distributed literary magazine. During his senior year, Nick is also serving as one of the department Senior Service Fellows.

Paige Cooley

Paige Cooley, a 2003 English graduate, was named Tech's outstanding female student for 2003. She joins four other departmental majors who have received this prestigious recognition in recent years.

Paige was also recognized by Who's Who in American Universities and College for 2002-2003.

In June 2003, she competed in the Miss Arkansas contest. Paige is currently employed as an Admission Counselor at Tech.

Alex Cope

Alex Cope, a 2004 creative writing graduate, served as the Nebo editor for 2003-2004 and was recognized by the Arkansas College Media Association as the 2004 Editor of the Year. Nebo received the second place award for general excellence. During his junior year, Alex wrote, directed and starred in the feature-length film That One Movie produced by Tech Studio 119. Two of Alex's stories, "Constellation Rose" and "The American Rodeo" were published in Nebo during 2003-2004. Alex is currently a graduate assistant enrolled in Tech's M.A. in English program.
Nebo won several awards at the spring 2003 meeting of the Arkansas College Media Association held at Lyons College. Jeremy Burns, a 2003 creative writing graduate who served as the 2002-2003 Nebo Editor, was named Best College Magazine Editor, received First Place for Fiction with his story "Pigs Feet," and Second Place for Spread Design. Assistant Editor Nick Morris received First Place for Poetry and Third Place for a General Column for "Dissent: The American Way" published in the Arka Tech. Overall Nebo was recognized with Second Place for General Excellence.

Brian Mott , a sophomore creative writing major, and Michelle McKinney, a senior creative writing major, shared the Rexann Oller Creative Writing Scholarship for 2004-2005

Melissa Jackson , a sophomore English major, received the Rexann Oller English Scholarship for 2004-2005

Rachel Tallmadge, a sophomore English Education major, received the Barbara Gund Scholarship for 2004-2005.

Sarah McCalman, a senior English/Spanish major; Brandon Massey, a senior English major; and Nick Morris, a senior creative writing/journalism major are serving as the department's Senior Service Fellows for 2004-2005.
Alisha Easter, a senior English Education major received the 2004-2005 John Rollow Award.

Brad Molder, a 2001 creative writing graduate, who is graduate assistant in the MFA program at the University of Arkansas, was awarded a fellowship to study in Ireland during the summer of 2004.

Elaine Tise, a 2002 creative writing graduate and a 2004 M.A. in English graduate had her poem "Tornado" published in The Formalist.

Ivana Cojbasic, a 2003 English graduate, was invited to present her paper "A Brief History of Slovenian Children's Literature" at the Children's Literature Association. Ivana, who is currently a graduate assistant in Tech's M.A. in English program, was advised by Tech English professor, Dr. Donna White.
