- Editor's Note
- from Jack Malone
America is undoubtedly immersed in troubled times. The face of these times is as ambiguous as the features of a masked executioner. Close scrutiny of those features only allows the identification that the enemy is human. Of course, the red, white, and blue top hat also helps in the knowing of this shrouded figure.
This issue of Nebo is dedicated to the people who have been marginalized by America. It is for every person who suspects flaws in society as evil as the terrorists who took out the symbol of America's financial might. The face of the enemy may yet be unknown, but the effects are universally felt.
As editor of Nebo, I have read the outcry of Americans from every state, and abroad. These voices are hungry, disenfranchised, and mournful of the current state of affairs. They are critical of everything from the hypocrisy of the churches to oppression of the people by police and government agencies. I have heard the truth about America's fascism with a smile before and after 9-11. The problems in America did not vanish under the shadow of patriotism, they were merely hidden.
America's Orwellian evolution will continue to degrade this country's citizens unless something is done. Freedom is not the current exclusive luxury of modern America. Freedom is every human being's unalienable right. Until that becomes a reality once again, every flag is the banner for a very real Big Brother.
Jack Malone is the shattered iris of lunatic dystopia.
