Alex Cope

A senior creative writing major, Alex won the Fall 2003 Gwaltney Scholarship for his short story "A Constellation Rose," the story of a waitress named Rose who has "big dreams."

"He pulled his hand away and sank back into his seat. He ran his finger over the lifeline on his palm. There was a long silence 'I'm very sorry,' he said..... 'Sometimes,' he continued. 'You have to stop looking at things how you want to see them, and look at them how they really are.'"
