Dr. W. Daniel Martin
Chairman, Department of Behavioral Sciences

Dr. W. Daniel Martin is the Chairman of the Department of Behavioral Sciences at Arkansas Tech University. He received his Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University in 1996. His areas of specialization include: The History of Social Thought, Social Theory, Religion, Social Psychology, and Collective Behavior. In addition to serving on various University committees, providing University service, and working with various corporations, Dr. Martin has authored numerous publications and technical reports. Dr. Martin's theoretical and research interests are varied, however significant portions of his work have focused on the effects of individual behavior on social structure. More specifically, his research has led to the development of a new Theoretical Research Program known as Recurrent Validation Theory, which focuses on the influence of irrational elements on the decision-making and the potential multi-level/institutional effects of such decisions. The result of his research efforts have led to the development of a theoretical model, as well as the empirical assessment of this model within various institutional arenas such as social services, and the criminal justice system.
