English 2053: Classification

Preparatory Reading
Before completing this report, read pages 124-125 ("Partition and Classification"), pages 128-130 ("General Guidelines for Good Document Design" and "Headings"), and pages 12-17, which describe the report requirements and provide two model reports.

Your Subject
You may select any set of items as the subject of your report, but try to avoid classifications that are too obvious and boring (classifying Tech students into freshmen, sophomore, etc.). You may reproduce a classification that you are studying, but be careful not to plagiarize. Review pages 166-167 "Plagiarism" in the text, and if you have not read it already, review my online warnings about plagiarism.

Objective
In addition to introducing you to the concepts of partition and classification, this assignment introduces the importance of headings in technical documents. From this point on in the course, you should always consider using heading to increase the accessibility of information in your reports.
