Dr. Carl Brucker

Head, Department of English

Arkansas Tech University

Russellville, AR 72801

Dear Dr. Brucker:

I am enrolled in your technical communications course via the Internet. I work full-time as a supervisor for Dean Foods, and with my limited amount of free time, this is a great way for me to take classes. I would like to express my appreciation to you and the other professors at Tech for the opportunity to continue my education in this way.

It has been several years since I enrolled in college classes and this is the first class I have taken over the Internet. The freedom that this course provides and the fact that assignments are posted weeks in advance have helped me in readjusting to the college atmosphere.

The one thing I miss about the traditional classroom is the interaction with the instructor. There is a great deal of power in the human voice. Like many other students, I feel that I learn at a much more advanced rate when I can actually hear what the instructor has to say about the subject.

I would like to suggest a weekly conference call between the instructor and any interested students at a pre-appointed time each week. I realize this would take up more of the professor’s already limited time, but I believe it would be very beneficial to the students who elect to participate. The potential problem of too many topics to cover in a short amount of time due to students working at different paces could be averted by limiting each week’s conference to the subject of the current week’s lesson.

I hope that you will consider my suggestion. I believe many students could benefit from the implementation of this plan. Thank you for your attention and time.

                                                                                                                        Sincerely,
